About AWSM

|
The James Madison University (JMU) chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) works with the national AWSM organization as a support network and advocacy group for women who work and desire to work in the sports media industry.
AWSM promotes diversity in the sports industry by inviting guest speakers, organizing workshops and sponsoring programs that emphasize the importance of women in sports. It also provides opportunities for student members to receive scholarships and internships in sports media.
Some of the programs JMU AWSM has had in recent years include resume workshops, presentations from reporters such as Heather Dinich and Samantha Ponder and a trip to Oriole Park at Camden Yards to meet with women who work in the front office of the Baltimore Orioles.
This site includes public relations pieces promoting AWSM's JMU chapter, a fact sheet with more background information about the organization, and a frequently asked questions section. If you would like to download any of the pieces, click the arrow icon at the bottom of each document and either create a free account with Scribd or sign in through Facebook before downloading.
